Francis Jennings Casement—abolitionist and women’s rights leader—WINS! The votes are in, and you elected Casement as our honoree for America
250 Lake County! Casement will be recognized with a memorial bobblehead and free giveaway at the Lake County Fair! No one embodies Lake County’s spirit of freedom and civil rights more than our honoree! Casement was president of the Ohio Woman Suffrage Association and worked closely with Susan B. Anthony. Living in Painesville, she and her husband, General John S. Casement, used their home as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Here are the results of your vote: Casement (204 votes / 31.7%), Postmaster General Charles Anderson Wickliffe (105 / 16.3%), Dr. Westel Willoughby Jr. (101 / 15.7%), Congresswoman Frances Payne Bolton (83 / 12.9%), The Patriot Woman (82 / 12.8%), and President John Adams (68 / 10.6%).
